How Do I Check DV Lottery Results?

You cannot check a DV-2027 result today. A real result appears in Entrant Status Check, and only after you enter and keep your own confirmation number.

Registration status

DV-2027 registration is not open. The State Department has not posted entry dates. A court order set a schedule, and the government has appealed.

How Do I Check DV Lottery Results?

You cannot check a DV-2027 result today. There is no result to look up, because the entry period never opened and you do not have a confirmation number.

A real result is a page you open yourself. For the last full instructions, that page was Entrant Status Check on dvprogram.state.gov. You type the confirmation number from your own entry. The government does not email you to say you won.

The notice from November 5, 2025 says the Department will announce when DV-2027 results may appear in Entry Status Check. That date is not posted. A court date is not a results date. Does the December 11 hearing open the DV lottery? explains that meeting. Why the November Visa Bulletin has no DV numbers explains the missing chart. A photo you can prepare while you wait is in How to make a DV lottery photo while you wait.

What does “no result” mean for me?

You did not miss a results day, and you did not lose a selection. A selection can exist only after people have entered.

Think of a locker room. The confirmation number is the key. Entrant Status Check is the row of lockers. The shop never opened, so you never received a key. A stranger who says “you won, pay me for the key” is not holding a government result.

Do not pay a website that says it can check a DV-2027 win, and do not send a photo, a passport scan, or money to “see if your name is on the list.” There is no list of DV-2027 selectees.

Three steps from an entry to a result. Step 1, enter, is not open. Step 2, save the confirmation number, has not happened. Step 3, Entrant Status Check, has no DV-2027 date yet.

Where do I check, once a result can exist?

You go to dvprogram.state.gov and open Entrant Status Check. You type the confirmation number from your own entry, plus the personal details the page asks for.

The DV-2026 instructions say that after a complete entry you see your name and a unique confirmation number. Print that screen. You return to the same website and enter the number. The U.S. government will not inform you directly. That page is the only notice of selection, and, if you are selected, the place where an interview date appears.

Those sentences were for DV-2026. The check ran from May 4, 2025, through September 30, 2026. One sentence says “through at least” that end date. The questions section says until September 30, 2026. Do not reuse May 4 for DV-2027. Instructions for this year, with a results date, are not published. Check the page yourself. Do not rely on someone else to look and then tell you.

What is a confirmation number?

It is the code on the screen after the site accepts a complete entry. Without it, you cannot open your own result. Print the screen, and keep a copy. The DV-2026 instructions warn that some helpers keep the printout and later demand money in exchange for the number.

If you press submit and no number appears, the entry was not recorded. Those instructions say you may try again until the number appears, and that a rejected try is not a second entry. Once the number appears, stop.

A rule effective April 10, 2026 says that if two or more petitions are submitted by or for the same person in one fiscal year, all of them are void. A fiscal year is the program year. You would not be eligible for a diversity visa that year. The Department wrote that more than 2.5 million duplicate entries were disqualified in the FY2025 program.

There is no DV-2027 confirmation number today. The form is closed.

Entrant Status CheckThe official results page. No DV-2027 date is posted.

October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027The visa period for people selected for DV-2027. It is not a results day. There are no selectees.
$1The registration fee in the rule effective September 16, 2025. Pay it on the official site, after the form opens.
$330The later visa application fee, only if you are selected and you apply.

What if I lose the number?

For DV-2026, the instructions said a tool inside Entrant Status Check could send the number to the email on the entry, after you confirm who you are. Embassies, consulates, and the Kentucky Consular Center could not look it up for you, except through that tool. They will not hand you a list of selected people.

DV-2027 instructions are not published. Do not assume the same tool until a new notice says so. When you enter, write the number down the same day. A person who says “I stored your number, pay me to release it” is describing the problem the instructions warn about.

Will the government email me if I am selected?

The DV-2026 instructions say the U.S. government has never emailed people to say they were selected, and it had no plans to use email for that purpose for DV-2026. The Department will not mail a selection letter either. People who are not selected learn that only on Entrant Status Check.

A later email can tell you to go back to that page, and only after you are already selected and you have followed the instructions there. If an interview becomes available, the email does not contain the date and time. The page does. A reminder to check the page does not say whether you were selected.

The Department will not ask you to send money by mail or by Western Union. A fee to USCIS, if you already live in the United States and you apply to adjust status, is a different step. DV-2027 instructions are not published. There is no DV-2027 selection to announce.

Two columns. The left column is the official check on dvprogram.state.gov with your confirmation number. The right column is a message that says you won and asks for money.

What is the difference between a result and a visa?

Selection means you may apply. It is not a visa. A consular officer, or USCIS if you adjust status inside the United States, still decides the case.

The DV-2026 instructions said up to 55,000 diversity visas were available, and that the Department selects more people than that, because some will not qualify or finish. DV-2027 instructions do not yet say how many people will be selected. The November 5, 2025 notice says selected people have from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, to apply. There are no DV-2027 selectees. The DV-2026 selected-entrants page says a person who did not receive a visa or status by September 30, 2026 derives no further benefit from that registration. A DV-2026 number does not open a DV-2027 result.

Does the Visa Bulletin show my name?

No. The Visa Bulletin is a monthly line for people who already have rank numbers. It does not list names, and it does not replace Entrant Status Check.

The November 2026 Visa Bulletin has no Diversity Visa chart, because no DV-2027 case number exists. The bulletin index lists October 2026 and November 2026. It does not list a December 2026 bulletin. A missing chart is not a rejection. A rejection would mean you entered and the status page said you were not selected.

Why do official pages use two names?

The November 5, 2025 notice says “Entry Status Check (ESC).” The DV-2026 instructions say “Entrant Status Check.” Both names point to the status page on dvprogram.state.gov. When a DV-2027 notice is posted, use the name in that notice. Type the address yourself. The only site named in the DV-2026 instructions for the entry and the status check is dvprogram.state.gov.

What should you do now?

  1. Stop looking for a DV-2027 result. There is no entry, so there is no confirmation number and no selection. A court hearing does not print a result.

  2. Ignore a message that says you won. Under the DV-2026 instructions, the government does not email a selection. Do not pay to release a win, and do not send your number to a stranger.

  3. Keep a DV-2026 number only as a record of that year. The check window in those instructions ran through September 30, 2026. That visa year has ended.

  4. Enter once, after a notice names the site and the dates. Save the confirmation screen the same day. If no number appears, the entry was not recorded. If a number appears, do not submit again.

  5. Pay the government only, on the official site, after it opens. A rule effective September 16, 2025 adds a $1 registration fee, taken on a U.S. government payment page when you register. The same rule keeps the Diversity Visa application fee at $330. The $330 comes later, and only if you are selected and you apply. The older DV-2026 instructions said there was no fee to register. The $1 rule is the later text.

  6. Prepare the photo before the form opens. The photo is part of the entry. It is not a result.

What photo do I need before any result exists?

You upload the photo when you enter. Selection, if it happens, comes after that. A finished photo does not put your name on a list.

DV-2027 photo instructions are not published. The DV-2026 instructions say a color JPEG, exactly 600 by 600 pixels, 240 KB or smaller, taken within six months. The head, from the chin to the top of the head, is 50 to 69 percent of the height. The background is plain white or off-white. You face the camera, and you do not wear eyeglasses. You need a photo for yourself, for a spouse you must list, and for each unmarried child under 21. Skip a spouse or child who is already a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident. The same photo from an earlier year will make you ineligible.

The rule effective April 10, 2026 says the head must cover about 50 percent of the area of the photograph. It does not restate 600 by 600 or 240 KB. Use the 2024 file size until a DV-2027 notice says otherwise. If six months pass before you submit, take a new photo. The photo guide compares the two rulers.

The size, file size, and examples pages follow the written rules. The tool on this site exports a 600 by 600 JPEG. dvlotteryphoto.com makes one such JPEG per order, with the background corrected and the file size checked, made to those DV-2026 measurements. Order one file per person who must be listed. That is not State Department approval. It does not submit an entry. It is not the $1 fee. A finished photo does not guarantee selection or a visa.

Questions

How do I check DV lottery results?

You open Entrant Status Check on dvprogram.state.gov and type the confirmation number from your own entry. There is no DV-2027 result to check. Registration has not opened, so no confirmation number exists. The DV-2026 instructions say the government does not email you to say you were selected.

Is there a DV-2027 result I can look up today?

No. The State Department has not announced an entry period, so no one has entered and no one has been selected. A court date, a closed form, and a Visa Bulletin without a Diversity Visa chart are not results.

Will the government email me if I am selected?

The DV-2026 instructions say the U.S. government has never emailed people to say they were selected, and that it had no plans to use email for that purpose for DV-2026. A message that says you won and asks for money is not a government result. DV-2027 instructions are not published yet.

What if I lose my confirmation number?

For DV-2026, the instructions said a tool on Entrant Status Check could send the number to the email on the entry, after you confirm your identity. Embassies cannot look it up for you except through that tool. DV-2027 instructions are not published, so do not count on the same tool. There is no DV-2027 number today, because there was no entry.

Can I use a DV-2026 confirmation number to check DV-2027?

No. A confirmation number belongs to the year you entered. The DV-2026 instructions said you could check from May 4, 2025, through September 30, 2026. That visa year has ended. The number does not open a DV-2027 result.

Does a finished photo mean I was selected?

No. The photo is a file you upload with the entry, before any result exists. A photo made to the written DV measurements is not approved by the State Department. It does not submit an entry, it is not the $1 fee, and it does not guarantee selection or a visa.
